A Personal Invitation
We sincerely hope families and friends will gather for a weekend of faith, fellowship, fun, and friendship as we seek greater unity, deeper understanding, and a renewed desire to become one heart and one mind. Together, we hope to strengthen our commitment to living the covenant, becoming a peaceable people, and encouraging one another in our walk with Jesus Christ.
Why “Songs of Everlasting Joy”?
"Songs of Everlasting Joy" is about much more than music. Yes, it is centered around music - but it isn't ALL about music. The theme comes from the scriptures.
In Isaiah 35:10 (KJV), it says:
"And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlating joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."
Isaiah 51:11 (KJV) has nearly the identical wording; in Psalm 126:5-6 and Psalm 32:11, we are told to sing or shout for joy.
We find in D&C 84:98-102 (T&C 31:15): “And these signs shall follow them that believe… And this is the new song which shall be sung: The Lord hath redeemed Zion; The Lord hath redeemed His people, Israel, According to the election of grace… For the Lord hath brought again Zion; The Lord hath redeemed His people, and Satan is bound and time is no longer.”
Throughout Scripture, God's people sing in times of deliverance, worship, remembrance, repentance, gratitude, and hope. Sacred songs help us remember who God is, what He has done, and whom we are seeking to become.
Everlasting is an important word. The joy offered through Christ reaches beyond the difficulties of mortality. Everlasting points us toward something enduring - resurrection, restoration, reconciliation, redemption, and the fulfillment of God's promises.
We felt the theme was appropriate for a hymns- and arts-centered conference where music, joy, knowledge, and fellowship are the overall goal.
Why Beaver, Utah?
We looked at many facilities, but Beaver has something the others don't: two stages within walking distance. This gives teens a place to rehearse their "play in a day," as well as a stage for the speakers. The town has been quite accommodating, and for the theme of our conference -- it works.
There IS affordable accommodation available. We strongly advise you to book EARLY!
It may not be super fancy - but there are a great many hotel rooms available. If you want a choice --book early!
There are a few Airbnb homes, and they range in price. Surrounding areas have more to offer. Parowan and Milford are within 35-40 miles and have plenty of rooms available.
Cedar City is about an hour away, so if you don't mind the drive, you can expand your search in that direction.
Who Should Attend?
Everyone is welcome. This is a Covenant Christian Conference, but anyone friendly to the restoration started by Joseph Smith is welcome.
Whether you are an individual, a couple, a family with young children, a musician, a historian, a truth seeker, or simply someone who loves Jesus Christ and the rich heritage of sacred music, we invite you to join us.
